Security forces crackdown on crypto market in Moscow-City: FSB special forces arrest crypto platform owner Andrey Belousov
The largest law enforcement operation in Moscow-City ended with the arrest of Andrey Belousov, the owner of one of the cryptocurrency exchange platforms. He is suspected of illegal banking activity.
Sergey Mendeleev, the creator of the main money-laundering platforms – Garantex and ABCEX – called the arrested man a "teacher" and a "patriarch of crypto."
Earlier, it became known about the security forces’ operation in Moscow-City. FSB officers, backed by special forces, raided the largest crypto exchangers and payment systems dealing with cryptocurrencies. They also visited UPAY and ABCEX. More than 15 employees of these structures were detained. They were taken to the Investigative Committee and interrogated as part of a case on illegal banking activity. The interrogations lasted all night. By morning, most were released, while two people were sent to a pre-trial detention center.
